Transfer alert: Monaco ‘open to offers’ for Arsenal and Liverpool target Thomas Lemar this summer
Thomas Lemar has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool

Arsenal and Liverpool could be set for a summer transfer battle after Monaco revealed they are will consider offers for in-demand Thomas Lemar.

The 22-year-old French forward has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League is recent transfer windows.

Arsenal failed with an attempt to sign him last summer, while Liverpool are also said to be keen and have cash to burn after Philippe Coutinho’s £142m switch to Barcelona.

And Monaco’s vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has now opened the door for the Premier League duo to re-launch their pursuits this summer.

Speaking to French publication Telefoot, asked if the Ligue 1 club would consider any offers made for Lemar when the transfer window opens, Vasilyev nodded before saying: “Good luck to those who want him.”

The report suggests his remark was also a warning to prospective buyers, as Monaco are said to value the France international at €120million (£104m).

Lemar was originally linked with a move to England on the back of a brilliant campaign for Monaco last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 17 assists as they won the Ligue 1 title.

But the 22-year-old has been less prolific this term. Lemar has only scored three goals for Monaco – plus two for France – although he does have eight assists.

Nevertheless, Lemar possesses great ability to play on either wing or in an attacking midfield role and it is expected he will have a big part to play at the World Cup for France this summer.

And, if he impresses in Russia, it appears Monaco are preparing themselves for more bids for the young forward.
