Liverpool seem to be facing a tough battle to persuade Monaco to sell midfielder Thomas Lemar before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
According to various reports in both England and France, the Reds have earmarked Lemar as a prime target before the summer transfer window closes later this week.
Liverpool are said to have prepared an offer of €72million [£66.7million] for the 21-year-old attacker [L’Equipe] and are willing to include Divock Origi as part of a potential deal [RMC Sport].
However, other reports claim Monaco have ruled out selling Lemar after their Ligue 1 winning team was pulled apart this summer.
Monaco have lost Tiemoue Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva to the Premier League following last season’s title triumph.
But with Kylian Mbappe set to join Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth an incredible €180m [£166.8m], the French champions are reluctant to lose yet another star player and will reportedly fight to keep Lemar at the club.
One deal that looks on the point of completion is Liverpool’s move for long-term target Naby Keita, although the RB Leipzig midfielder may have to wait until next summer to move to Anfield. – FULL STORY HERE
Meanwhile, it is claimed that there may still be time for the Reds to revive their interest in Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, after a deal collapsed earlier this summer.
