Thomas Lemar has told Monaco he wants to be sold this summer after reportedly agreeing personal terms over a move to Arsenal.
The 21-year-old winger is said to be desperate to join the Gunners and is excited to work under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium.
According to The Sun, the France international has agreed a long-term contract worth round £90,000-a-week with the north London club.
However, Monaco are hesitant to allow another one of their stars to leave and have their Ligue 1-winning squad ripped apart this summer.
The champions have already lost Bernardo Silva to Manchester City and Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea, while Benjamin Mendy and Kylian Mbappe have also been strongly linked with exits.
But Lemar has had his head well and truly turned by Arsenal’s interest and is prepared to force his dream move over the line and demand to be sold if Monaco play hard ball.
Lemar was a key figure in the club’s title success. He made a total of 51 appearances in all competitions for the club last season – scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists.
The youngster has another three years left on his current deal, but the numbers said to be agreed with the Gunners dwarf his current – relatively modest – pay packet in France.
Arsenal have already broken their transfer record by sealing the £52million arrival of striker Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.
But it appears they may have to fork out another record fee to have any chance of persuading Monaco to sell.
