The transfer window is well underway and having completed the two biggest pieces of business this window already, you would be forgiven for thinking Liverpool are finished this month.

After announcing the signing of Virgil van Dijk from Southampton, Jürgen Klopp sanctioned the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in a £142 million move.

The Reds were looking at signing Leon Goretzka from Schalke, although Bayern Munich beat them to the signing of the 22-year-old midfielder.

However, there could yet be more transfer drama emanating from Anfield this month.

talkSPORT have scoured the pages from national and European papers for some of the biggest Liverpool transfer stories that could still yet be done.

Thomas Lemar (AS Monaco) – click the right arrow to learn the latest Liverpool transfer rumours – Liverpool fans will be disappointed to hear boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly called off his attempts to sign Lemar in January. The Daily Mirror claim Monaco value their in-demand forward at £90million – a figure the Reds boss is unwilling to match. However, the Ligue 1 club are said to be willing to offload summer signing Keita Balde, who joined from Lazio for £30m, and could leave last season’s Champions League semi-finalists for a similar return.
Emre Can contract latest
Emre Can contract latest – The German midfielder previously denied claims he was certain to leave Anfield by suggesting he could decide to extend his contract. Can will become a free-agent in the summer if he refuses to sign a new deal at Anfield, a situation Klopp has described as “not cool for the club”. Juventus have gone public in their attempts to lure Can to Italy and remain favourites to secure Can’s signature as part of a pre-contract agreement.
Alisson (Roma)
Alisson (Roma) – Liverpool are in the market to find a number one goalkeeper who can provide the consistency Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet have failed to provide. Italian publication, Il Tempo, report Liverpool have seen a £44m bid rejected for Roma’s Brazilian shot-stopper as they appear unwilling to let the Reds get their hands on another of their prized assets, having sold Mohamed Salah to the Merseyside club in the summer.
Daniel Sturridge set for exit?
Daniel Sturridge set for exit? – Sturridge looks certain to leave Anfield this month despite the Reds’ lack of reserve attacking options. Inter Milan, according to Corriere Dello Sport, are the favourites to sign the 28-year-old on loan for the rest of the season. The Serie A giants are willing to cover Sturridge’s £150,000-a-week wages but are currently less keen on the £5m loan fee the Reds are asking for. Inter director, Piero Ausilio, has played down his club’s need to sign players in January but his actions are being interpreted as a ploy to potentially lower the asking price for the loan fee.
Javier Pastore (Paris Saint-Germain)
Javier Pastore (Paris Saint-Germain) – Liverpool are unlikely to entice Pastore to England if the Argentine’s latest comments are anything to go by. The PSG ace is considering his future at the Parc des Princes as he looks to secure his place in Argentina’s World Cup squad next summer. Pastore has been quoted as saying he would “love to return to Italy” if PSG decide to sell him during this transfer window. The Reds, as well as Tottenham, are said to have made a bid for Pastore but will likely have to look elsewhere in their search for Philippe Coutinho’s replacement.
Mohamed Salah set for new and improved contract?
Mohamed Salah set for new and improved contract? – Liverpool are keen to fend off interest from Real Madrid for their star forward by offering the Egyptian improved terms at Anfield. The Egyptian currently earns £90,000-a-week on Merseyside but the Reds are understood to want to reward the summer signing for his outstanding efforts in his debut season with the club. According to Bleacher Report, preliminary discussions have taken place over a potential future move for Salah to join Madrid. Klopp will likely prioritise Salah’s future in the coming weeks when the transfer window closes.
