Things are certainly hotting up in the January transfer window and we’re only just past its halfway point.
At Arsenal there have been a whole host of fascinating rumours about potential ins and outs of the north London club this month.
Francis Coquelin’s move to Valencia is the only done deal concerning the Gunners in the current transfer window so far but that is almost certain to change.
Alexis Sanchez looks to be finalising his move to Manchester United and it looks like Arsene Wenger is preparing a huge replacement in the form of Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
But will there be some late twists to come and what other potential deals are Arsenal involved in? Click the right arrow above to find out…
Alexis Sanchez – The forward has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Manchester United after seeing his move to their local rivals Manc City fall through last week, however, the deal hinges on United outcast Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way and the Armenian is considering his options. United boss Jose Mourinho said he was relaxed about the deal after his sides convincing win over Stoke on Monday night but the likes of Chelsea and even Liverpool will certainly be waiting for any slip ups if Sanchezs move to Old Trafford continues to stall. Thomas Lemar (Monaco) – The Gunners missed out on the Frenchman on deadline day of the summer transfer window but that will probably not deter Arsenal from trying again. Arsene Wenger is clearly an admirer of Lemar, however, the Arsenal boss has been quoted saying: He is always ready to receive the ball. He is quite complete in both defence and attack. Liverpool are also keen on the Monaco players signature as well. Mesut Ozil – Ozil is another player set to leave the Emirates but a summer move seems more likely. Juventus are the newest club to be linked to the German international but also have their eyes on Tottenhams Christian Eriksen and Liverpools Emre Can. However, the Gunners will be eager to get some money out of an Ozil sale and given his contract expires at the end of the season this could accelerate the move. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund) – Rumours about Aubameyang going to Arsenal have emerged recently and the Daily Mail has claimed today that the Gunners are set to table an offer of £53million for the Dortmund player. Wenger was initially apprehensive about going after Aubameyang but it now seems he is the answer to fill what is set to be the inevitable Sanchez-shaped hole in the team. Theo Walcott – Walcott seems certain to be leaving Arsenal in January after twelve years at the club. The former Southampton player has ignored approaches of Bournemouth to make a move to Merseyside. Walcott is currently having a medical with Everton in a reported fee of over £20million. Olivier Giroud – The out-of-favour forward also seems determined to call time on his Arsenal career and it seems Arsenal are willing to let Giroud go to Dortmund as part of the Aubameyang deal. The striker had a move to Everton fall through during the summer transfer window and he has struggled to secure a spot in the first team this campaign. Danny Welbeck – Reports in Turkey suggest that Besiktas are in talks with the out-of-form striker in what would be a shock move for Welbeck. The Turkish club have recently lost star striker Cenk Tosun to Everton so are clearly on the lookout for a new front man. Welbecks contract expires in 2019 which will undoubtedly increase speculation.
